How does it work?
EVIIVE helps you grow your social network by connecting you with your friends and your friend's friends and getting you active on the thousands of discussions and topics.
Navigation
First of all, as I’m sure you have all noticed by now, there are two bars on EVIIVE. There’s a colorful bar with bold headings on the top and a smaller gray bar below with sub sections for each bold section. Depending on what section you click on the colorful bar, the options on the smaller gray bar will change.
Good vs. Evil
Feeling frisky? Our site has a feature that allows you to engage in some real fun. We have a friendly mode and an evil mode. Friendly mode is just that- very friendly. It’s what everybody’s site is automatically in already. To get to evil mode click “Feeling Evil?” on the lower left side of the website. Once in evil mode, the smiley icons in comment boxes change to evil faces and instead of adding people as friends, the option changes to “Add to Suck List”. If you add people to your suck list, they are screwed. It’s a beautiful thing. They get a nice X through their face. Everyone gets to see the chumps who landed in your suck list. Now you have a way for everyone to know who is on your sour side or who annoys the hell out of you. Once you’re done destroying peoples lives in evil mode, you can easily switch back to friendly mode. Just go back to the left lower corner and click “Feeling Friendly?”.
What does the EVIIVE button do?
The EVIIVE user button allows you to access the EVIIVE homepage. You can see polls, CD reviews, featured articles and read about what’s new on EVIIVE. On the gray bar, you can also access Q & A, which answers any obvious questions users may have about the site. Next to Q & A, there’s a “Contact” tab. The contact tab is pretty self explanatory. You can contact people that way; der. After that, on the gray bar, there’s a links section. You can click on the links and visit other cool sites. You can also copy the cool EVIIVE icons and paste them on other, lamer, websites you might still be a part of.
Your page, your style
“My Page” is a place where, you guessed it; you can tweak your page. First of all, if you haven’t created a profile do it now! After you’ve done that, the “View Profile” section allows you to view your profile, see the option? It’s on the gray tab below “My Page”. You can admire your page all day long if you want, we actually condone that.
You can edit your profile as well. Once you click “Edit Profile” you can change any of your basic information, including email and password.
Next to the edit option there’s a “Mail” button. Click on that tab to see if anybody has sent you EVIIVE email. It’s just like any old email; you can read your stuff, delete, reply and all that stuff. Once you’ve read all your mail form all of your EVIIVE best friends forever, you can click the “My Photos” tab. Remember, and all of this is on the gray tab under “My Page”. You can upload and delete your profile pics from here. If you click on your existing pictures, you can view any comments people may have written under your lovely pictures. Remember, when uploading your pictures, they’ve gotta be under 600 k. If you don’t know what size your pictures actually are, just try to upload one. If it doesn’t upload, it’s probably over 600 k. There is a simple solution to this problem; if your file is too large, just open your picture from “Paint” on your computer. There’s an option under “Image” called “Stretch/ Skew” click that. You just need to resize your picture 70% or less for both horizontal and vertical and you should be golden.
Now that you have all your photos up, if you’re still feeling creative, you can go to the “journal” section on the gray bar. You can add journal entries by copying some creative work you adore by coping and pasting it, just click “Post in Journal”. In the “Journal” section, you can also add a link to your Live Journal. Were still under “My Page”, you following? Good. Now, you can click “My Friends” to see who your friends are and maybe give them a comment or three. “Page Style” is next this feature and allows you to change colors and text styles. If you’re confused by all of this, just click the “CSS Wizard”, it’s at the top in red. You can make your selections about links, navigation bars and more in step one. Once you pick what you like you select the code and copy and paste it in the box below. Keep copying and pasting until you have made the changes you want. When you’re all done you simply click the big tab on the bottom that says, “Update CCS Code”. After you have personalized your page you can log out, if you must. “Log Out” is the last option under “My Page”. But, you don’t want to log out
just yet. We’re just getting started.
Other peoples' profiles
OK, so you’re all done with the whole “My Page” scene. Now you can stalk people. Exciting, huh? “Profiles” is right next to “My Page” on the colored bar. Under that on the gray bar you can see it says, “Search Profiles” and “Create a Profile”. If you click “Search Profiles” You can search by user name, real name or by their rating of coolest, ugliest and sucky’est. Once you’ve found your victims you can add them to your friends or bless them with a comment. Have you noticed on the top of everyone’s page, including your own, there is a section to view Profile, Photos, Friends, and more? There is an option for you to add someone as your friend by clicking “Add to Friends”. You can also attempt to hook up with someone by clicking “Hook Up?” on their page. The hook up button is cool because it allows people who want to meet you to send you a public message and a reason why they want to hook up with you. You can deny their hook up or send a hook up replay back to them. The “Hook Up?” is great because unlike other sites where people can only get to you by comments and email, you can publicly put someone to shame or make a new friend for life- it’s up to you. If you still have not signed up for this marvelous site, the “Create a Profile” button will walk you through it.
EVIIVE Music
There’s more. The section to the right is the music section, once again, it’s on the colored bar. Once you click on “Music” you can view the top 10 bands, search bands and songs, search concerts, and see CD reviews. On the gray bar you can also view your play list. If you’re not sure what the heck I’m talking about just read ahead. Before you leave the music section there is an option to “Add a Band”. If you are a band you can add your cool band to EVIIVE. You can add photos, songs and bios. It’s simple and fun to do. Just add your basic information such as email, zip code, band members and so on. After you submit your facts, there is an option to add photos and songs. It’s effortless to do just follow the instructions and upload! Once you’re all done jammin’, you can go rock out some more in the PS section.
What the heck is this PS thing?
The PS section of EVIIVE is one of the great things that differentiate us from other, more dim-witted, sites. It’s a really cool feature and once you start fooling around with it you won’t want to stop. The PS section is a one stop shop for everything from music to news to karaoke. The first tab you will see in the PS section is “News” so you can remove your blinders and find out what’s going on in the world. Next to that, is yet another place for contacts. After that, there is a tab that allows you to bookmark pages you can’t get a way from. Best of all, the bookmark feature allows you to go to your links even when your away from your primary computer, you can access them right from the internet at EVIIVE. There’s a “Music” button, too, in the PS section that rules. You can upload songs! Unfortunately, our system isn’t allowing for too much memory right now and we apologize. We are working on it! In the mean time, the “Notes” button lets you write notes and save ‘em, right here on EVIIVE! Nifty, huh? After that lovely little accessory we have an “Events” button. You just click on that, and you can mark important dates and events. Know what else you can do? You can download the calendar section from the PS section to your i pod or outlook. We rule, don’t we? The “My Town” section is also a really neat-o place. Losers like you can get a social life, that way. You straightforwardly enter your location and select from topics like, clubs, shopping restaurants and more. The “My Town” section is excellent if you’re in a new city for the weekend, you can enter your location and find a cooler party than any tour guide could ever dream of. The section is completely EVIIVE friendly. Users add places they know are hip and fun, in their towns. There is no “big brother” adding places for you to see; it’s purely for the EVIIVE community to monitor and update. You can add places you think other people are missing out on, by clicking “Add”. To round things off in the PS section, there is a “Games” option. There are all types of games you can access. There are puzzle games, sports games, hunting games, card games, karaoke, yup, internet karaoke, and many, many more to choose from.
Picture this…
Once you’re all done exploring the PS section and uploading songs and calendars, we land back on the colorful top bar of the site. “Photos” is the next handy section of the site. Here you can upload and view all types of pictures from all over. You can look at modeling pictures, yes, pictures of people modeling just for you to look at. You can also look at pictures of peoples pets, under “Creatures”. If you want a good laugh you can go to “Players” and look at guys and girls who have convinced themselves they’re players. Maybe they’ll convince you with their sultry stares. There’s a bunch of other categories to browse like, the art section, vacations, fashion, photography, rides, junk, cribs and tricks, no not that type of tricks, sports tricks. Weirdo. If you want to contribute to the eccentric album just click “Add photo” in the photos section. Just browse and upload your picture the same way you would on your profile and title your picture, impute your location and select a category for your picture to be showcased in. You can even enter a brief description of you want.
Videos
The videos section is the next topic on the bold bar. This is a great feature. The videos stream clean and there’s no delay. Once you click “Videos” you can view videos from Stupid Videos, Grind TV and Hollywood Up Close. What’s better than commercial free videos of other people making asses of them selves for your entertainment? Not much. The videos section is easy to navigate and even simpler to watch.
Groups
The next thing you might want to do on EVIIVE is add yourself to a group. There are all types of groups, everything from art groups, to government, love groups, to music to video game groups to work groups and a lot in between. There is a ton of stuff to explore on this page. If you think you have a good idea for a group you can add your own group. At the bottom of the group page there is an option to start a group. Once you click that button you select the category your group would best fit into and select a cool new group name you can enter a logo or URL address of a cool picture of the group idea, and a link to a website, if you like. Finally you can describe what your group is all about and all that neat stuff. Then select “Submit Info.” Done!
Calendar
The Calendar section can also be accessed on the main bar of EVIIVE. It’s a place you can view what’s going on, stuff like concerts- when and where. You can search events up at the top or scroll through. If you wish to add an event, at the top of the page, in red, there is an option to “Add an Event”. Click that, and enter all of the information like the date, time, location, price of admission and a description of the event. You can even mark your events private or public. Depending on how daring you may be, that means only your friends can see the event or everybody can view it.
Chat Yes, there is still more to do on this site, can you believe it? There’s a chat section. Here you can, you guessed it, chat. Just enter your user name and password and enter the chat room. You can view who’s in the chat room before you log on, by checking the red “Who’s in the Chat?” and then going to chat away. No matter who is chatting with you, you can click on their name in the chat, and view their profile. In the Chat, you can click “Add” and make the chat public or private. There are also message boards you can participate in, such as suggestions and confessions. The confessions are awesome because you can read anonymous confessions posted by fellow users and write comments under the sometimes hilarious confessions. If you want to add a confession it’s easy and, don’t worry, 100% anonymous. “Stories” is another part of chat. In the stories section, there are stories that are started by someone; other people take turns, deviating from the original entry. They can go on forever and are entertaining. Follow the rules and enjoy!
As you can see there is a lot of stuff EVIIVE has to offer. This is definitely
a site you will find yourself spending all day on. There is a lot to see and
much to participate in. Please rock the site and let us know if you have any
feed back. We appreciate your participation. This site allows it’s users to
control much of what goes on. So keep it real. By: Ashley Landsman
